The Manaslu circuit trek is one of the best treks in Nepal. It takes you around the Manaslu Conservation Area and leads to a breathtaking view of the eighth highest mountain in the world.

The total distance of the Manaslu Circuit is 177 kilometers (110 miles). The distance can, however, differ from itinerary to itinerary. Some trekking companies like to start in Arughat Bazar where others only start at Soti Khola.

The Manaslu Circuit Trek difficulty is generally considered moderately challenging. Trekkers will need to traverse through taxing terrains to achieve their goal of completing the Manaslu Circuit. The rugged and remote landscapes of the region require a long duration of the walk.

The Manaslu Circuit trek is a stunning 13-day journey (17 days including travel and days in Kathmandu) which treks around the world’s eighth highest mountain, beginning in the busy market town of Soti Khola, going up and back along a different path, ending in Syange.

Manaslu Trek is a restricted region. You will need a special restricted area permit, which can be issued by a local company. You will also need ACAP and MCAP permit for the trek. Two trekkers are compulsory for the trek.

Day 01: Kathmandu Arrival and Transfer to Hotel (1300m)

Upon your arrival at Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu, you will be greeted by our representative who will transfer you to your hotel. You can spend the rest of the day at leisure, exploring the vibrant streets of Kathmandu and preparing for the trek ahead.

Day 02: Drive from Kathmandu to Soti Khola via Arughat (730m)

After breakfast, you will embark on a scenic drive from Kathmandu to Soti Khola, passing through the town of Arughat. The journey takes approximately 7-8 hours, offering picturesque views of terraced fields, hills, and rivers. Upon reaching Soti Khola, you will check into a teahouse and rest for the night.

Day 03: Trek from Soti Khola to Machha Khola (890m)

Today, your trek officially begins. You will trek along the Budhi Gandaki River, crossing suspension bridges and passing through small villages. The trail offers glimpses of terraced fields, waterfalls, and lush green forests. After approximately 6-7 hours of trekking, you will reach Machha Khola, where you will spend the night.

Day 04: Trek from Machha Khola to Doban (1,070m)

Continuing your trek, you will follow the trail upstream, enjoying the scenic beauty of the surrounding landscapes. The trail gradually ascends and descends, passing through forests and terraced fields. After approximately 6 hours of trekking, you will reach Doban, where you will spend the night.

Day 05: Trek from Doban to Philim (1,570m)

Leaving Doban behind, you will trek through a rocky trail, crossing the Yaru Khola. The trail offers stunning views of waterfalls and cliffs. As you continue, you will pass through villages inhabited by the Gurung community. After around 6 hours of trekking, you will reach Philim, where you will spend the night.

Day 06: Trek from Philim to Deng (1,860m)

Today’s trek takes you through beautiful landscapes and charming villages. The trail passes through lush forests, crossing several suspension bridges over the Budhi Gandaki River. After approximately 6 hours of trekking, you will reach Deng, a small village inhabited by the Gurung and Tibetan communities. Overnight stay in Deng.

Day 07: Trek from Deng to Ghap (2,250m)

Continuing your trek, you will pass through dense forests of pine and rhododendron, ascending gradually. The trail offers glimpses of Manaslu and other surrounding peaks. After approximately 6-7 hours of trekking, you will reach Ghap, a village with traditional Tibetan-style houses. Overnight stay in Ghap.

Day 08: Trek from Ghap to Namrung (2,660m)

Today’s trek takes you through beautiful forests, crossing several streams and bridges. The trail offers stunning views of Manaslu and Ganesh Himal. After approximately 6-7 hours of trekking, you will reach Namrung, a picturesque village with stone houses and prayer flags. Overnight stay in Namrung.

Day 09: Trek from Namrung to Samagaun (3,530m)

Leaving Namrung behind, you will trek through forests, passing by Tibetan-style villages and monasteries. The trail gradually ascends, offering panoramic views of the mountains. After approximately 6-7 hours of trekking, you will reach Samagaun, a charming village with the majestic Manaslu peak as its backdrop. Take some time to explore the village and immerse yourself in the local culture. Overnight stay in Samagaun.

Day 10: Rest Day in Samagaun (3,530m)

Today is set aside for acclimatization and exploration in Samagaun. You can take a leisurely hike to Birendra Tal, a beautiful glacial lake nestled amidst the mountains. Alternatively, you can visit the Pungyen Gompa, a Buddhist monastery perched on a hill, offering serene views of the surrounding landscapes. Spend the day resting and preparing for the challenging days ahead.

Day 11: Trek from Samagaun to Samdo (3,875m)

Leaving Samagaun, the trail continues through picturesque landscapes. You will trek along the Budhi Gandaki River, passing through juniper and birch forests. After approximately 4-5 hours of trekking, you will reach Samdo, a Tibetan refugee village located near the Tibetan border. Take in the scenic beauty and enjoy the peaceful atmosphere of the village. Overnight stay in Samdo.

Day 12: Trek from Samdo to Dharamsala (4,480m)

Today’s trek takes you to Dharamsala, also known as Larkya Phedi. The trail ascends through rugged terrains, offering stunning views of the surrounding mountains. After approximately 3-4 hours of trekking, you will reach Dharamsala, a small lodge situated at the base of the Larkya La Pass. Rest and prepare for the challenging pass crossing the next day. Overnight stay in Dharamsala.

Day 13: Trek from Dharamsala to Bhimtang (3,720m) via Larkya La Pass (5,160m)

Today is a challenging day as you will cross the highest point of the trek, the Larkya La Pass. The trail involves a steep ascent to the pass, offering breathtaking views of Manaslu, Himlung Himal, and other surrounding peaks. After reaching the pass, you will descend to Bhimtang, passing through moraines and glacial valleys. The total trekking time for the day is approximately 8-9 hours. Overnight stay in Bhimtang.

Day 14: Trek from Bhimtang to Gho (2,550m)

Leaving Bhimtang behind, the trail descends through rhododendron forests and lush meadows. You will trek alongside the Dudh Khola, crossing several streams and charming villages. After approximately 5-6 hours of trekking, you will reach Gho, a small village with traditional houses and terraced fields. Overnight stay in Gho.

Day 15: Trek from Gho to Dharapani (1,910m)

Continuing your descent, you will trek through beautiful forests and picturesque landscapes. The trail passes through villages like Tilije and Thonje, offering cultural insights into the local communities. After approximately 5-6 hours of trekking, you will reach Dharapani, where you will spend the night. Overnight stay in Dharapani.

Day 16: Drive from Dharapani to Besisahar (760m), then Drive back to Kathmandu

After breakfast in Dharapani, you will embark on a scenic drive to Besisahar. The drive takes approximately 3-4 hours, offering beautiful views of the landscapes and rural settlements along the way. Once you reach Besisahar, you will switch to a comfortable vehicle for the drive back to Kathmandu. The drive from Besisahar to Kathmandu takes around 5-6 hours, and upon arrival in Kathmandu, you will be transferred to your hotel. Spend the rest of the day at leisure, relaxing, and reflecting on your memorable trekking journey.

Day 17: Transfer to Kathmandu Airport

After breakfast, you will be transferred to Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu for your departure. Take with you the cherished memories and experiences from your Manaslu Circuit trek. End of the trip.
